At 18th of August 2012 we celebrate the 85 anniversary of Arkady Genike candidate of technical sciences, leader researcher, professor of the chare of Astronomy and Space Geodesy of the Moscow University of Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK).
After finishing of Radiotechnical faculty of the Moscow Radiotechnical Institute of Communication he was working at TsNIIGAiK from 1954 to 1989. He is one of active architects of geodetic distance meters and radio-geodetic systems.
He was a head of the International research group of electronic distance measurements and atmospheric refraction during 10 years. He was a coordinator of the working group “Methods of long distance measurements” on measurement problems of Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
He was an active participant of the International project SELF-2 on study of global geodynamics and ecology.
Arkady Genike is a founder of scientific school in the field of geodetic distance measurements.
